Rules and Regulations
Dryland Races
1 dog canicross (running with your dog) 1.24 miles
1 dog bikjoring 2.24miles
2 dog bikejoiring 2.24 miles
2 dog scooter 2.24 miles
4 dogcart 3 miles
$25.00 Entry fee for all classes these races are fundraisers for the club expenses.
Winter Race Start Times, MandatoryPre-Race Musher Meeting
6 – dog mid distance class of 12 miles per day entry fee $45.00 (8 racers limited)
8 – dog mid distance class of 24 miles per day entry fee $65.00 (6 racers limited)
4- dog 4 miles per day $35.00 (6 racers limited)
2 - dog 2 miles per day $25.00(5 racer limited)
Some adjustments may be made to number of racers if there is lack of sufficent racers in a class. 3 racers or more must be regisered in the class to have the race.

Musher check in is at musher meeting 7:00 p.m. the evening before race. Dry land races order is assigned that morning.
Starting order will be pulled from a hat at the mushers meeting 7:00 p.m. Race Time will be discussed. Race starts are normally 9:00 a.m. unless weather is permitting that start. Dry land races 8:00 a.m. start.
Winter Entry Limited ; All entry fees must be paid /POST MARKED; ONE WEEK PRIOR TO RACE DATE.
No refunds given unless medical conditions apply.
No LATE ENTERIES WILL BE ACCEPTED unless a previous phone call has reserved the spot.
A $10.00 late entry fee will be applied to all entries paying late.
Receipt of the entry fee and registration form will constitute the musher’s intent to enter the race and further acknowledges that the musher agrees to comply with each and every rule as stated.
Equipment
All Harnesses shall be padded around the neck and chest areas.
All dogs shall be harnessed in a single or a double file.
A sled must be drawn.
Sled bags required for 8 dog, 6 dog and 4 dog races. 2 dog race does not require sled bag.
The sled must be equipped with an adequate brake, brush bow, and snow hook. It shall also include a sled bag capable of restraining a dog if necessary, covering a severely injured dog completely. Within the sled bag must be appropriate supplies for the sport, knife, parka and appropriate gear for the weather, a trail map (given at the mushers meeting). 2 dog races do not require a sled bag.
No choke, prong or muzzles may be used on the dogs running.
Dog bedding in dog boxes must be Certified Straw/grass hay. Any left in parking lot is the responsibility of the musher.
Helmets are recommended for all racers. Dry land Races Helmets are required.
Officiating
Race Marshal has final work on any issues whatever they may be.
Outside assistance
Dog Drivers must not be accompanied or paced by a snowmobile while negotiating the course.
Musher
The musher starting the race must be the musher through out the race. One musher per team. Musher must be 18 years unless accompanied by a parent or responsible adult. Musher must attend musher meeting. Musher will be responsible for the conduct of their dogs, crew, and themselves when attending the meeting and race and parking area and on the trail.
Common sense and good sportsmanship shall prevail. Cruel and or inhumane treatment of any dogs or others by any musher will cause for disqualification to be deemed by race marshal and organizing committee. Use of any whips, batons are prohibited.
Any activity deemed unacceptable by race marshal can result in disqualification.
Passing
The musher passing must call out “trail”. The overtaken team MUST give up the trail either by stopping or slowing down their team. When passing head-on team, the heading to the finish line has the right of way.
Lost Team
If the event it happens the team will not be disqualified if the musher can regain control of the team and have completed the entire trail.
Number for Identification
Some type of number must be worn on the sled for identification. #’s provided by race organization.
Dogs
6 dog class shall not have less than 4 dogs.
8 dog class shall not have less than 6 dogs.
4 dog cart class shall not have less than 3 dogs.
Dogs will be marked the morning of the race so there is not switching of dogs.
Dogs must have some sort of identification, or micro chipped.
No dogs must be pushed beyond their limit.
Any inhumane treatment to any dog will result in disqualification.
No loose dogs are allowed on the trail or in parking areas.
Vet Check will be held (non-mandatory) for the teams after the mushers meeting. Vets are all volunteers. Race Marshal with advice of the vet may withdraw a dog for any reason deemed necessary.
The use of any injectable drugs/vitamins and or any drugs is prohibited. Nor oral or topical drugs that may suppress the signs of illness or injury, or that can enhance performance may be used on or in the dog. Drugs must not be present.
You must have paper work on each dog showing that all dogs entering the race have valid parvo, distemper, within the last 12 months and Rabies vaccinations must be current for current address.
Sportsmanship/Clean up
We want great sportsmanship from every musher handler in every circumstance. Also you are responsible to leave the parking areas as clean as they were when you pulled into them. This includes any garbage, food dropped, feces dropped, or straw dropped, at the motel, banquet hall, and in the race start parking lot.
